Born in Marseille on 24/01/1971 Erwann Strauss started studying dance when 6 year-old in the conservatoire.

When 14 he was admitted to the school of the Opera of Marseille. There he started his professional career, entering then the corps de ballet, interpreting various ballets of the classical repertoire such as: “Sleeping Beauty” with Noella Pontois (International Etoile), “La fille mal gardée” with Monique Loudiere and Charles Jude (both Etoiles of the Opera of Paris). When 18 he entered the company “Europa Ballet” under the direction of J.Donn (Etoile of M. Bejart), to later on continue in the theatre Trianon in Paris.

In 1994, as a soloist, he entered the Opera of Toulon where he danced “Sleeping Beauty” with E. Platel (Etoile of the Opera of Paris), subsequently he danced in different French theatres such as: Opera of Avignon, production “Faust” with Eric Vuan (Etoile Opera in Paris), Opera of Limoges, Opera of Metz.

In 1996 he left France to continue his career in different theatres in Germany: Stath Oper in Düsseldorf, Stath Oper of Hagen, interpreting choreographies of J.Kylian and J. Robbins.

In 1998 he was called by the company “Balletto di Milano” for the show “Tango, una rosa per Jorge Donn”, choreographer for D. Ganio (Etoile of Roland Petit), also represented in different Italian theatres and in 1999 in the Theatre Bolscioi in Moscow. Ganio himself then chose him as a soloist for his “Bolero” together with Amaya Ugarteche (first dancer of Arena of Verona).

In 2000 he was chosen by D. Ferrara as first ballet dancer in the Theatre Bellini of Catania. In 2002 he worked with G. Coal as a soloist in different productions like “Romeo and Juliet”, “Sagra di Primavera”, “Carmina Burana.” In 2004 he went on tour in Asia as a soloist in the production “Roman holiday” with Mario Marozzi (first ballet dancer Opera of Rome).

In 2005 he worked as soloist in the “Compagnia Nazionale del balletto” in “Carmen” with Fara Greco, choreography T. They rule.

In 1997 he took the diploma of Teacher of classical and contemporary dance granted by the French State and he started teaching in different companies: “Balletto di Milano”, direction D. Ganio, “Balletto Nazionale ‘80”, direction G. Coal, “Balletto di Roma”, direction Bozzolini-Bartolomei, “Compagnia Renato Greco” and since 2006 he gives lessons to professionals at IALS in Rome.

Since 2000 he is constantly called to participate to the French jury for the contests of the French Federation of dance held in Tahiti, in the French Polynesia, in Martinique and in Guadalupe, in the Caribs. Since 2006 he teaches at “Balletto di Roma”.
